How to check your website SEO in ten minutes.
Five areas decide whether search engines and AI answers can find and use your site. Here is how to check each one.

You do not need an expensive tool to see where your website stands. You need to check five areas in order. This is the same structure my website checker uses.
1. Findability
- The site loads over HTTPS with no browser warnings.
- A robots.txt file exists and does not block pages you want found.
- An XML sitemap lists your main pages and is submitted in Google Search Console.
- Each page has one canonical address, so versions with and without www or a trailing slash do not compete.
2. Page basics
- Every page has its own title and meta description.
- Each page has one clear H1 that matches what the page is about.
- The page works on a phone, with readable text and tappable buttons.
- Images have short descriptions.
3. Trust and entity
- Your name, business and contact route are easy to find.
- Structured data tells search engines who you are and what you offer.
- A security.txt file and a site icon are present. They are small, and they signal a maintained site.
4. AI readiness
Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI answers draw from sites they can reach and read. Check that your robots file does not block them, that your content is in the page text and not hidden behind scripts, and that a summary file such as llms.txt describes who you are. None of this guarantees a mention, but a site that blocks or confuses crawlers has no chance.
5. Mobile speed
Run Google PageSpeed Insights on your homepage. A mobile score above 90 is strong. Large images, heavy scripts and slow servers are the usual causes of a low score.
Turn the checklist into a score
If you would rather get a score and a ranked list of fixes in about a minute, use the website checker. It reads your homepage, robots file, sitemap and standard files, and ranks what to fix first.
Questions.
How do I check the SEO of my website?
Check five areas in order: findability, page basics, trust signals, AI readiness and mobile speed. The website checker does this and returns a score and a ranked list of fixes.
What is a good website SEO score?
Most sites land between 40 and 80. The goal is the ranked list, because the fixes at the top move results the most.
How often should I check my website?
After any redesign or platform change, and once a quarter otherwise.
